Day 1: Marrakech – Atlas Mountains – Ouarzazate.

Today we start 5 Days Sahara Desert Tours from Marrakech driving towards Ouarzazate via the Tizi n’Tichka mountain pass. We enjoy the beautiful scenery over the High Atlas mountains, we pass few Berber villages before we get to Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, the largest Kasbah in Morocco. It was built by the last Berber chieftain El Glaoui Et-Hami in the late 19th century; it is now a UNESCO matrimonial historical site, which today still houses many Glaoui family members. Lunch is by the Kasbah before we continue to Ouarzazate, “ the Hollywood of Africa”. Here you have the option of visiting the studios to see props used in some movies you might have seen, such as “Gladiator”, “Jewel of the Nile” “the last temptation of Christ” and “The Sahara”. We will spend the first night of our private Morocco tour in traditional Moroccan riad with dinner and breakfast.

Day 2: Ouarzazate – Skoura – Roses Valley – Dades Gorges

After breakfast in the riad, our 5 day desert tour from Marrakech continues, we’ll leave to explore the fascinating Dades and Rose Valleys. Our first stop will be at Skoura to walk within the Birds Valley and visit the beautiful and well-preserved Kasbah of Ameridil. Then we’ll continue to the village of Kalaa M’gouna, famous for its rose fields and rose products. A rose festival is held here every May each year when the roses are harvested. Since this is the road of the thousands of Kasbahs you’ll have plenty of opportunities to take some beautiful pictures. Our journey continues to boutaghrar area where we can meet Berber families still living in caves with their goats and sheep. After lunch with the Berber family, we continue to the Dades Gorges where you will enjoy seeing the amazing Rock formation called “the monkey Toes” and the still-standing Kasbah of Ait Yul. Overnight in a traditional Berber guest house with dinner and breakfast.

Day 3: Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga Desert

After breakfast, we will drive towards Tinrghir and the Todra valley enjoying the panoramic views of the old mud Berber villages overlooking the valley. Once at the Todra Gorges you can walk under the 300 m high red cliff, where many rock-climbers spend their time. After lunch in the way, we will arrive in the village of Merzouga – where your camel will be awaiting you. You’ll be welcomed with a glass of mint tea and a desert scarf before you ride your camel, guided by an experienced camel desert guide, to explore within the mysterious sand-sea of the Erg-Chebbi. Here you will spend your first night under the stars in a traditional Berber nomad tent.

Day 4: Merzouga – Rissani – Draa Valley – Ouarzazate

Our desert camel guide will wake you up early in the morning to enjoy watching the desert sunrise in Merzouga. We prepare for camel trekking back to Merzouga village. After breakfast, we’ll leave for Rissani, a very traditional Moroccan city. We’ll continue towards Agdz, via Alnif and Tazarine. We cross the “Draa Valley” and we will arrive in Ouarzazate in the evening. Overnight in a local riad in the valley with dinner and breakfast.

Day 5: Ouarzazate –  High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech

On the last day of our private 5 days Morocco tour, we will enjoy the panoramic view of the palm grove and the scenic landscapes of the Berber villages at Ait Benhaddou. This area has been a popular location for Hollywood films, including The Last Temptation of Christ, Jewel of the Nile, and the Mummy. Our tour continues through the Tizi n’tichka Pass (2260 m) over the High Atlas Mountains.     We booked our trip from Marrakech and back to Marrakech with morocco-travel-guide.com ,our driver was just amazing,very kind and friendly he made us feel comfortable during the 3 days with a big smile He took us to visit Berbers (Nomads)families where we had a great lunch in a small tent. the great moment I would not forget in my life was riding the camel during the sunset and sunrise time . At night they we played music with locale Berbers under the stars next to the fire with delicious dinner.the next day our guide drove us back to Marrakech. highly recommended.
